    Autumn Silver Birch

    74 x 140 | Acrylic on unbleached Kozo paper
    A young Silver Birch tree with green leaves on the tips of the branches shifting to brilliant yellow further down. I tried to paint every gradation of colour from soft green to yellow azo observing the subtle changes leaf to leaf. Equally important in this composition are lines of the outreaching dark branches and male catkins. This is a painting which reflects the mesmerising brightness of autumn colour.

    This piece is painted on handmade Seichosen paper from Kochi, Japan which is unbleached and has soft, uncut edges which show the kozo fibres. The paper reflects light with warmth and is can be backlit to great effect.

    The banner can be easily rolled for packing or posting and is suspended from a wooden batten and clear synthetic thread.
