Anemone Flag

97 x 100 cm | Kozo, Shoji paper

The background of this Flag is Oriental Blue pigment to convey the uplifting bright clear blue of summer sky. I mixed the Titanium White pigment to a thick consistency which has given a batik-like crackle in places. I have used Kozo paper which is traditionally used in Japan to make Shoji screens as it is light, luminous, fibrous and strong. This simplicity is a result of many weeks of painting and observing anemones. A statement piece that is also light and easy to hang.
