This banner was brushed as a morning meditation. The Acer grows in a pot on our terrace and turns spectacular shades of red every year. Many years of exploring brush technique through Shodo - Japanese calligraphy - along with yoga practice have allowed me to sit quietly brushing leaves until the piece is complete.

This technique exudes a tranquil strength, inviting practitioners and viewers into a still and peaceful world. The focus is on breathing and watching, placing the brush unselfconsciously onto the paper.

I have made my own paint using Quinacridone Red, Pompeii Red, Chrome Yellow Middle, Quinacridone Magenta, and Cadmium Red Deep pigments.

These banners integrate with natural interiors and embrace the principles of biophilic design.

The Mitsumata paper is stretched and attached to a simple wooden batten with bookbinder's paste, ensuring effortless hanging. If you would prefer, the batten can be easily removed before purchase to accommodate alternative hanging methods.
